"Some Issues but Still Love This Place"
We stayed here for seven nights. This was our third time staying at Fiesta Americana. We also stayed at Grand Fiesta earlier this year but prefer Fiesta as its more of an authentic resort.
We arrived around noon but weren't able to check in until 3pm so we took the bus to Walmart to stock up on items we needed. Upon returning our room was ready. We opted to stay on the Club level this visit as the cost to us was only an extra $11.00 a day more. The club level includes a room on the 9th floor, appetizers and premium liquor in the evening and a continental breakfast in the morning. The rooms are the same as any other room except for a higher ceiling which makes the room more echoey. In my opinion it is not worth the extra cost for the club level. The liquor at any of the bars have premium brands plus we love having breakfast outside at the La Chulavista in the morning as it has a big selection of breakfast items plus a made to order omelet station and more. The service was great too with friendly, helpful service from Sergio, our daily waiter. Besides, who wants to be inside eating or drinking at such a beautiful place? We never once ate or drank anything from the club level.
The resort is great. The room was clean and modern with even a few English channels on the television. Huge walk in shower, stocked mini bar, it's all great.
The pool is huge with a nice swim up bar. Daily activities include blackjack(chips included), cooking lessons, fun games to play, etc. Every day the employees dance around the pool edge thanking guests and handing out drinks and appetizers. Staff at the resort is great. Poolside service was always spot on. Huge thanks to Luis, Miguel, Carlos, Nacho andRaphael. All were excellent. Fabiola in the lobby bar was super friendly and wonderful as well, as was Axel who we saw throughout the resort all week.
The restaurants were all excellent... with the exception of one, the Asian. The Asian was always our favorite on prior visits but this time it was terrible. So bad in fact we never went back the rest of the week. The service was horrible. There was maybe four other couples dining yet we were constantly ignored. No welcome, our waiter disappeared and rarely came back to our table. The food wasn't hot. Disappointing to say the least. The Italian, Mexican and the Cevicheria restaurants were all outstanding as was the poolside grill with tasty burgers, wings, hotdogs, etc.
The only other issue we had with the resort was the schedule of activities listing we were given when we checked in wasn't accurate. There was no Italian Buffett night, no Mexican Buffett night, none of the nightly activities were correct. A little disappointing.
Still we love vacationing here and will continue to come back to Fiesta Americana despite the small issues, also because it is a great resort. See you in about sim months!
We spent the perfect vacation with our adult children back in August 20106. The staff at Fiesta Americana, specifically, Sergio, Jesus, Gerardo and Armando are attentive and friendly. The nightly shows are so professional and varied. The three fine dining restaurants amazed us. We felt pampered. Every day we felt cared for. The beach was kept clean as well as the pool area. We would return here in a heart beat! The bus stops just in front of this hotel to go to El Centro.
"Great all-around vacation with the girlfriend"
We spent a week at the Fiesta Americana back in March. At the price point, it appeared like the best bang for our buck. After returning, I can definitely confirm that you get a high end vacation for a low end price. Here's my take:
The food. I would say this is the number one criteria I have for resorts, I just love to grub. The food at the Fiesta averaged out to be pretty good. The breakfast buffet was okay, but then again I'm not a big morning eater. They have various snack bars that we ate at almost everyday for lunch. Everything we had from these were delicious, especially the fish tacos! The A La Cartes were also pretty great. There were a few times the food was a letdown, mostly at the Asian restaurant but the Italian and Mexican places were fantastic. There were also plenty of theme nights that had their own cuisine; however we never ate at one.
The drinks. Over the course of the week we tried a plethora of drinks, and they were all great! There will always be some variance in strength and flavour because these guys are hammering out drinks in a few seconds, but overall I was pleased. The Bloody Mary's and tap beer were super refreshing. There were also top shelf liquors and American beer for those who so choose.
The service. I'm not big on service and am fine doing everything myself. I usually go up to the bar for any food or drink I want. The staff here is super friendly though, and if you like being waited on they are definitely able to deliver. I did find that the staff selling time shares were a bit more pushy than other resorts and it was kind of annoying at points. But after a couple of no's they leave you alone.
The room. Pretty nice room with a nice view. Delivered almost exactly on my expectations, nothing notable to mention here.
The entertainment. The Fiesta has a great assortment of activities spread throughout the day. Water aerobics, poker, blackjack, volleyball...you name it. If you want to be social, there is plenty of opportunity. I played volleyball and blackjack almost everyday with Luis and Vincent (and won almost everyday too!). There were night activities too, but we didn't attend much of them. Definitely a lot going on in the resort.
The resort. This is a family friendly resort so be prepared for kids. That being said, I can't recall a single time that I noticed. They have a good hangout rooms for kids and there were no screaming babies or tantrum toddlers. There is a decent amount of seating around the pool, but the spots with sun exposure throughout the day will have some stiff competition. There is also a decent amount of seating on the beach, these seemed to be a lot more vacant. The resort portion of the beach is very small so be prepared for some serious peddling once you head past. The public beach is great though and there is a nice lookout plateau close by.
The surrounding area is great. There's a mall right across the street and the boardwalk (El Macelon) is a quick cab ride away. You can even walk there in about 40 min (we did this twice). Lots of performers and cool places to eat drink. Definitely enjoyed going into town a few times, something I really hadn't done in Cuba or Cancun.
All in all we had a great time and the vacation delivered pretty much exactly what I wanted. No surprises here, you can expect great food, great drinks and great company!
"Beautiful property - The people make it great!"
We stayed here with our two teen/pre-teen children from October 15-22, 2016. We stayed in a deluxe double room on the 7th floor. The views were stunning. The overall property was very well kept and beautiful. We walked down the beach in both directions and FA seemed to have the most beautiful pool and patio areas and the beach directly behind the property was the best when compared to the other resorts we walked by.
Breakfast buffet - Very good. Especially loved the fresh made omlets, quesadillas, fruit and assortments of meats. The service at breakfast was also very good.
Lunch - Every day we had lunch poolside. We really enjoyed the fish and shrimp tacos, chicken soup from room service (arranged poolside by Raphael), and the kids loved the chicken nuggets and fries and the nachos. The banana and strawberry smoothies were also a big hit.
Dinner - We tried all three of the ala carte restaurants. Italian seemed to be the best. Great food and service. The mexican and japanese were good, but didn't blow our minds.
We went to the cafe each morning for coffee and the kids loved being able to get little pastries there.
Hands down, the star of the show and the very best part of our trip were pool servers Luis and Raphael. They both went out of their way to make us feel taken care of. We came to consider them both friends. I really can't say enough about them. I read previous reviews about the great service and we aren't the type of people who like over-friendly, fake friendly, type service. This was not the case with them. Luis and Raphael both seemed to genuinely care about the people they were waiting on and both seemed like very good people.
What was concerning to us was the lack of tipping throughout the report. The staff at this resort and resorts like it make about $5 USD per day, or less. These are not livable wages and we seldom saw anyone tipping except ourselves. It was sickening really. It would be nice to see other patrons tipping. The folks at this property really deserve it. They love their jobs, work very hard, and should be compensated.
Overall, this was a nice, very relaxing trip. If we visit PV again, we would recommend FA, and in fact have already recommended it to a few friends.
The resort staff and food were incredible! I was there for a girls trip and we couldn't picked a better resort! Close to downtown and the view and ocean are these best I've ever seen!!
Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation! I wanted to give Vicente Arellano a huge thank you for making our stay especially welcoming. The tequila tasting, water aerobics and blackjack are the way to a girls heart!!
