Summary of qualifications
"Wonderful for the most part and relaxing stay"
6th time in the Puerto Vallarta area. The hotel is reasonably priced even without the added 'hotel coupons'. I would have rated our stay a 5-star experience had it not been for the ‘hotel coupon’ and adult pool seating issues.
Staffing is mostly top notch. We also thought Raphael who was serving at the pool was an amazing person with just the right mix of respect, fun and hard work. How he remembers and carries all those drinks is so impressive. Hats of to Paulina too, thank you for making our card games so fun.
We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the Asian / Indian food restaurant. We loved that you do not have to go through the stress of pre-booking restaurants. Drinks throughout were enjoyable.
Our room view was amazing! We paid the extra for 9th floor which included free access to the adult pool area. This ‘upgrade’ needs to be clarified at booking since, you only have access to certain places to sit without paying an additional minimum $40.00 US extra / day (we were told) for a shadier double lounger or > than $100.00 US for a room with a tv (which were all empty excepting 1 room for the week we were there – seemed quite a waste of space).
With the ‘$50.00 US / day hotel coupon’, the price of renting a lounger was $75.00 US versus the $40.00 without – Really? We suggest you offer i.e. 15% off hotel services versus a $50.00 US / day coupon which was virtually useless. We did use one for a bottle of wine one night.
I would recommend this hotel. The infinity pool, hot tubs and food at the adult pool area were awesome even sitting in the sun.
"Shocked at all the good reviews "
This will be a long review so I’ll start with the highlights for those who don’t want to read the whole thing. I read hundreds of reviews and felt confident this was an awesome resort, I was wrong. Travelled with two other couples for a total of three rooms.
* I made three requests via email (twice) for a king bed, 9th floor (we bought club level) and rooms close together. Upon arrival they gave my requests to my friends in the two other rooms and gave us none of our requests.
*Food is not good, I read so much about great food and not one thing was good. It was bearable but none of us looked forward to meal times as it was so salty we got bloated and ick feeling.
*Drinks are NOT premium. They have premium but when you ask for it, they make it with bottom shelf liquors right in front of you. Only so many times do I want to force them to remake it, so essentially we drank well Mexican liquors the whole week.
*they lie and tell you they have certain liquors but then you ask the next waitress or bar tender and they claim to not have it. Example gray goose, they said they have it to make my friends drink, then I asked for it and was told oh we don’t have that here. So did I get lied to or did she?
*Sonne club was the saving grace for the week, but you had to line up so early and then if they had special “VIP” guests, chairs would
Be already taken once you get up there. Tried to negotiate for a cabana since none are taken but they wouldn’t budge from the $89 rate.
*until we asked for extra liquors by way of floaters we couldn’t even taste liquors in our drinks.
*Service was spotty, some people were great (Juan Carlos at Sonne club) but most others overlooked us or acted like it was a pain to serve us.
*Bluntly ignored our requests (most times) to use call liquors and substituted well, seems devious because when you are watching they give you want you want, but if you look away they give you the nasty stuff.
*Asian restaurant was the best by far, while not great. They ignore your specific requests. Italian was bland and not good, Mexican was generic and not good either. Morning buffet was ok, but not a huge selection (no tortillas anywhere, although I read about them in other reviews).
*I watched them make drinks and put zero liquor in them (were not Virgins).
*Got on the plane home and felt more liquor in one airplane drink then all week at the FA.
"Another great vacation"
Stayed at Fiesta Americana again. Another wonderful stay. The employees make it so enjoyable - feels like we're returning to family. Hector and Sebastian greet us and make us feel welcome the moment we arrive. Rafael at the beach and pool is a real treasure!! He is one of the reasons we keep coming back to Fiesta Americana! Miguel took great care of us when Rafael wasn't there. Then we have Kevin and Rafael on the 9th floor who are wonderful. Monica kept our room clean and left a sweet message on the bed in colored rice - unbelievable. This year at the Mexican Fiesta, one of the employees sang along with the band. It was a real treat! Joaquin should have sung more than just one song. We will be back to Fiesta Americana in Puerto Vallarta!
"First Time In Puerto Vallarta"
My husband and I really enjoy travelling. We try to go someplace different every year. Based the price and some recommendations by friends we chose Puerto Vallarta this year. We were referred to the Fiesta Americana. We compared it with their other sister property, the Grand Fiesta Americana. The Grand Fiesta American seemed to be a little more appealing because it was adults only and a little more modern, but based on location we decided on Fiesta Americana. Checking into the hotel avoid the "tour" of the property if you are not interested in being hounded to buy a time share. On this same note...when landing at the airport...grab your bags and head straight out to get your transportation. Don't talk to anyone! They are ALL trying to sell you time shares no matter how cleverly they disguise it!! We wasted 5 hours at one property because we were not aware of this!
We did pay a small upgrade at the Fiesta Americana to have access to the adult only pool area though which is otherwise $15 a day. This fee also gave you access to the highest floors of the hotel which had a special happy hour each day, better views 8th and 9th floors, and beach side breakfasts. I would say that this fee is worth it. We also had a fridge stocked with sodas, water, and beer in our room at all times. We had an ocean side view which is the only way to go. Beds were a little hard, but our room was very clean. Great air-conditioning too. All of the restaurants are decently good. I enjoyed the Cevicherie every day for lunch that served a variety of Ceviche and fresh seafood tacos. Around 2 every day they did grill some entrée up for lunch by the pool which was another good option. Fresh seafood or skewered meats grilled or paella. The Italian restaurant was ok and so was the Asian restaurant. One night there was a huge buffet for dinner. I was skeptical of beef in Mexico coming from the Midwest, but the prime rib was excellent! There was also a variety of fish, seafood, salads, steamed clams, etc. The waiters in all areas of the resort are excellent. They will bring you anything you want, food or drink wise, all day long by the beach or pool. Of course a good tip doesn't hurt to get good service as well. The pool area was nice and the beach was decent. Swimming in the ocean was a bit rough though and cold. They hotel was very clean and kept up. Our maid was very nice every day and left us nice messages in rice everyday on our bed. Side note... It is expected to tip every day for the maid. My husband and I ventured off of the resort property many times throughout our trip. We found a variety of local restaurants downtown that were great! Downtown is only a short 10 minute, or 80 peso, trip from the hotel. We felt safe at all times. There is a fantastic boardwalk area called the Malacon that offers a variety of shops, entertainment, and restaurants. You are also very close to old downtown Puerto Vallarta to see the beautiful old church. Overall I would recommend this property!
"First time/hopefully not the last"
After extensive research and reading reviews, we chose Fiesta Americana Vallarta to spend out 35th wedding anniversary. All rooms overlook the ocean, all restaurants were excellent, employees very attentive, hard working and friendly, Mexican night entertainment and food was very good. The Spa (massage) and hot tub were fantastic. We were very happy we stayed at this resort. It was close enough to downtown Puerto Vallarta to spend time on the Malecon. The one thing Neuvo has over this area is more beachfront to take long walks (1-2 hrs). The one thing that could be improved is to turn down the music after 930pm. After spending all day in the sun, usually we were ready for bed by 9pm and could hear the music late.
The charm and the warmth of this destination make Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta All Inclusive one of the most attractive hotels in Bahía de Banderas.
The beautiful contemporary Mexican architecture blends the traditional Mexican styles of Jalisco state with the vibrant culture of Puerto Vallarta. The buildings harmonize perfectly with the landscape surrounding the Western Sierra Madre Mountains, and the most beautiful beach in Vallarta. Relax in the shade of the largest thatched-palm ''palapa'' roof in the region, admire the beautiful waterfall, and rest in comfortable rooms, functional suites, in an environment that favors relaxation.
To ensure that your stay is complete, culinary experiences and family fun are included. Savor the moment in our restaurants that will delight you by showcasing both regional and international cuisine.
