Stayed for two nights and my room was rundown and looked like nothing had been updated with the exception of the tv since the 80’s. Disappointing since it is a great location and was once such a nice hotel.
"Weekend in Mexico City"
A traditional hotel in the middle of Reforma Avenue, between Zona Rosa - Chapultepec Park and Mexico City Downtown.
Check-In was a bit of a nightmare because of a big convention so both Valet Parking and Receptionist were so slow; also the elevators were to crowded and it took so long to go up and down.
"Good value for money and ok for our purposes"
The location is 30 minutes walk from Zocalo so it’s very central. We spent 3 nights in a 22nd floor Club Room with access to the Executuve lounge and free breakfast. The room was fine. The Executive lounge has a great view and the staff are friendly.
As others have said the hotel is quite old and tired and in dire need of an upgrade. The exterior sound proofing was probably fine when it was built but now it’s not really adequate for the traffic, car horns and sirens in the 21st century Mexico City which is a busy a city as we’ve been to and we’re including Tokyo, Shanghai, São Paulo , New York , Cairo , Istanbul and Mumbai in that list. It’s a true mega city.
The Reception staff and Concierge staff are all friendly and speak good English.
We only paid £50 per night so all in all it represented excellent value for money.
"In the heart of buzzing Mexico City "
We stayed at this hotel as part of a stop over. We were told the hotel is 4.5 star but disappointed about this rating and the price charged.
Checkin was prompt and concierge very helpful.
Room had amenities for one person although we had booking for twin share. Beds were comfortable and free wifi was welcome.
Most of the facilities seemed run down and we felt the hotel catered more for the local community.
Breakfast was buffet style with a variety of dishes Mexican and other and generous array of juices, salads, fruits and sweets.
However the dining are was very crowded with business guests occupying the larger area. It was very noisy and busy not ideal for a quiet meal.
The location was close to local restaurants and shops.
"Fine Hotel, Great Location, Excellent Staff, Good Value, 'Loved the Dining"
Extremely pleased with our recent 3 night visit. An historic location in the heart of Paseo de la Reforma. A highly professional staff. For those who don't speak Spanish, no worries, all key employees speak English (It's unrealistic, as one reviewer complained, to expect the entire staff in downtown Mexico to speak English). Absolutely excellent service. I judge a hotel not on whether or not a few little problems come up, but rather how quickly and fairly the hotel resolves such issues. NO HOTEL in my many years of international travel experience has done a better job of quickly resolving the few tiny issues that came up. The food both in the restaurant and the Executive lounge is excellent, clearly a fine chef runs the show. The entire hotel is very clean and nice. Thanks to all for a great stay, we've already booked our next visit.
