Summary of qualifications
Grand Fiesta Americana- all inclusive resort
October 6-13, 2016
This review is of my experience at the Grand Fiesta Americana resort in Puerta Vallarta, (PV) Mexico and I hope to answer a few questions I had before I left.
From the airport we had a pre arraigned vehicle pick us up and drive us to our hotel. The trip is about a 40 min drive through the mountains as well as the port city of PV. Once at the resort we were greeted by bell desk persons who took our bags, and promptly were given cold wash clothes and a refreshing non- alcoholic drink.
Check in was a breeze and no credit card was needed. Once you are assigned a room you are then whisked away to a table near the lobby bar. The resort provides a staff member who is supposed to answer all your questions about the resort but really they are just going over the same information you already received at check in. This is cleverly disguised and a sales pitch to set you up for a tour of the property as well as trying to get you to purchase a time share. They will try every angle. Including that you need to "meet" with your travel company at the crack of dawn to find out your departure time. Don't listen to them, you can goto the concierge anytime and they will tell you. This meeting will also attempt to Offer you money off a massage, room upgrades, etc.. the meeting is supposed to be 45 min long, but after 2 hours you're still trying to get away.
The resort wasn't as expansive as I assumed it would be. It's broken up into three 12 floor towers with a majority of the restaurants and bars in the middle lower section centrally located.
The food was amazing. We had made reservations at some of the restaurants off site but the food and service was so good at the hotel we chose to cancel them.
Speaking of food: this resort has a number of places to eat. In the lobby is a sweets counter which also has coffee and sandwiches. In the middle tower below the lobby is Guiletta Italian food, Rojo Corazon Mexican and YUU which is sushi. Also located on the ground floor is D' Brick which the Buffett, Cevicheria which is sea food, Shore Grill which is burgers and such near the pool. All restaurants have a different dress code, so be sure to check before you go. Basically no flip flops or cut off shirts and no hats.
Bars: in addition to the lobby bar, the hotel has a Tequila lounge with (amazing) infused tequilas, Martini lounge, mojito lounge, and roof top bar with DJ and two whirlpools and pool bar. All bars have the usual Mexico branded spirits. But also Jim beam, Jameson, grey goose, kettle one etc. you just have to ask. Beer is Corona, modelo, Dos Equis, Pacifico, bud light and all the light variances in between.
Ambience: this is an adults only hotel. No kids running around and a majority couples/newlyweds. The vibe is warm, and the staff is very pleasant and accommodating. It's all inclusive, small tips (I tipped in American) were very well received so don't be cheap. Stock up on $5's for nights drinking and anywhere between $10-$20 for dinners.
Entertainment: the hotel tries to have a show every night. The reggae show was lacking, but rock show, Michael Jackson, and fire a hows were all very good good.
Each restaurant has a different "trick" that's worth watching. The Mexican dinner has a flaming coffee which is amazing, tequila bar is flaming drink ( or el diablo), Italian is dinner made in a block of cheese.
Cab ride to the city of Puerta Vallarta is about $5 American. Again the hotel was so amazing, we didn't want to leave.
Conclusion: hotel and staff exceeded our goals. I would highly recommend this hotel to others looking to visit PV. It's total relaxation. Amazing drinks, food and staff.
One final thought, we experienced some restaurants and bars closed on certain nights. So get a schedule when you check in and plan your nights accordingly. It wasn't a huge hassle, as the hotel has other options.
What a wonderful place to stay, food was great, drinks even better but staff was awesome! Especially Vincent Arellano! He made our stay the best, played poker, water aerobics and plane contest, We will be back again!
"Wonderful relaxing vacation destination!!!"
Just got back from 10 days here. We are from Canada, and weren't familiar with this hotel chain. After scouring the reviews we finally pulled the trigger and went for perhaps less luxury in exchange for what seemed to be impeccable service. Boy were the reviews ever bang on!!
The weather was a constant " 36, feels like 46", no word of a lie! I still don't know how the staff was able to give 110% effort, all of the time, when we could barely function under the shade of our palapa. But these guys are experts!!! Raphael and Miguel (Aka Brad Pitt) were the icing on the cake. These two exceeded had a drink in our hand at all times, we didn't even have to ask. They brought us 'special drinks' that they thought we would like, which of course we always did. They are both proud of their jobs and it shows. Making the vacationers have the best time possible is their number one goal. Please remember to give credit where credit is due. Tipping is such a small way to say thanks, and goes such a long way for them, and is always very appreciated.
The resort is not new by any stretch, but it's impeccably kept, the food is nicely varied and quite palatable, the location is great with the Caracol mall across the street and only 10 minutes from the airport, the beach is safe and clean, the rooms all have glorious ocean views, but still above all that comes back to the service. Hardest working hotel all around service I have recited. Kudos to you guys and your management for keeping the morale so high!!!
"Fabulous views of the bay and ocean."
I'd like to start off with the positives.. The view from my room was breathtaking. The way the hotel is positioned I don't think you would be disappointed with the view. My room was on the 8th floor and the views were beautiful.
The rooms were nice the bed was comfy and the AC worked great.
The staff are welcoming and attentive. Some of the staff went far beyond the call of service to make us feel welcome more like family. Because they were so awesome I'd like to give a huge Thank You to Miguel and Jessica at the pool bar. Yomar at the Mexican restaurant, Manuel at TiaTang and Marcos at the buffet. Thank you Thank you !!!!
The only negative was that the staff on Friday and Saturday were not as friendly as all the others. To be fair I want to be clear that it was not all of them but we did encounter rude staff at the spa and my server at the Italian restaurant.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would come back 3 bad apples shouldn't be a representation of all awesome staff that I mentioned 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"Great Family Vacay..."
Just got back from our first visit to Puerto Vallarta with the family. We absolutely loved it, the people of PV were very friendly. We can't wait to go back, such great value for a trip to paradise. The service at the Fiesta Americana was amazing, located only 10 mins. from the Airport by cab which was nice. (450 pesos). Recommended family activity "the Dolphin swim", our kids have not stopped talking about their experience. Ask the front desk to help you set it up.
The charm and the warmth of this destination make Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta All Inclusive one of the most attractive hotels in Bahía de Banderas.
The beautiful contemporary Mexican architecture blends the traditional Mexican styles of Jalisco state with the vibrant culture of Puerto Vallarta. The buildings harmonize perfectly with the landscape surrounding the Western Sierra Madre Mountains, and the most beautiful beach in Vallarta.
