We stayed there for 4 days. The people were amazing and the hotel was beautiful. Such a great location with food right near the lobby (5 restaurants to chose from!)
The people were so warm and helpful. My husband had to change money so the bellhop - Jacobo drove us in his BMW to the exchange and stayed with us the whole time.
Front desk staff was wonderful as well at the full staff in the restaurant and bar.
Such a comfortable bed with very generous bath towels!
"Comfortable Hotel in a Great Location"
Monterrey is an increasingly important tourist destination, and this hotel is perfectly situated in a quiet location only minutes from all the key attractions in the city. The rooms are large and well air-conditioned, the beds are comfortable and the wifi very good indeed. And it has a large restaurant open for long hours.
The hotel is large and slightly shows its age, but that gives it character. It is built round a huge atrium which means that inward facing rooms are somewhat dark and overlook the atrium, whereas the outward facing rooms are lighter and have good external views - and so are well worth the extra price.
It is worth noting that the hotel is not (yet?) fully geared up to hosting US and European visitors. Some staff speak English very well, but some don't; the breakfast food - and indeed the food in the restaurant later in the day - is mainly Mexican; and there are hardly any non-Mexican channels on the TV. But these are positives in many ways:- they add character to an interesting destination.
It is also worth noting that the food portions in the restaurant are very large - at least by European standards. Opinions varied, in our party, as to whether that was a good thing!
We look forward to returning next year.
"Travelled for Ironman 70.3 Monterrey"
The staff is all very accommodating. From the front desk to the wait staff to the room cleaners, everything is good. The hotel is old, could use a facelift. As far as proximity to the race venue, you couldn't get much better. It was in a great location, close to the transition area and the finish line. Good restaurants around. The rooms were big, the beds were fine. The gym equipment was pretty old and could use some updating. Free WIFI throughout was a great benefit. I fought between a 3 and a 4 star rating and ended up on a 3 only because I felt there were many hotels that I had given 4 stars to that were far beyond the level of this hotel. I definitely don't have any complaints but nothing 'wowed' me.
Beautiful, clean hotel with nice-sized rooms and good views of the city. I thought labelling hot/cold faucets with red/blue stickers was a nice touch! The Hotel Service was very efficient and courteous. Breakfast buffet was superb. Excellent, safe location.
"Old building, nice people"
The building is quite old, so you'd encounter certain issues like next room noises through the walls. Apart from that, rooms are spacious but they lack electrical wall sockets, which is a bit of a pain since you have to unplug one of the many lamps in order to charge your phone or your laptop. I only had dinner at the hotel, food was not bad but they took more than half an hour to prepare it, and we were only 5 people in the whole restaurant. On the bright side, people is kind and very nice.
The Fiesta Americana Monterrey offers diverse recreational and relaxation alternatives. At the hotel, guests can enjoy the indoor swimming pool, a workout at the gym, pleasant conversation at the Lobby Bar or a moment together in the restaurant. Its strategic location provides easy access to places of interest, such as the museums, the Cathedral, theme parks, the zoo, shopping mall and theaters.
