The hotel and service for the most part was good. The area is nice with a starbucks and xoxo within walking distance. We were very disappointed with the food at the restaurant. I actually found a hair in my food and lost my appetite after that. The AC had issues our first night and it took 2 times for the maintenance department to come out and fix. Very inconvenient. We have mixed feelings about staying again.
"Frequent...one of my top three in GDL and was thrilled by upgrades"
I've stayed at the Fiesta Americana many times over the last few years. Not all of my experiences have been great, but it's on my short list of places to stay in GDL. When I entered my room on this trip I love all of the updates and details that made the stay way beyond my expectations--from my many visits before. It's not a five star hotel AND it's worth every penny I spent, from the comfy, elegant rooms, to one of the best breakfast buffets in the city. You can't go wrong --- central location, solid service, and properly invested money in the room upgrades to make me feel I was no longer visiting an outdated hotel from the late 1970s.
Good Job. Keep it up.
"Super customer service"
Excellent customer service. Great food. Delicious coffee. Rooms were spotless. Gym treadmills and bikes were in great shape. Not a ton of green space around, or seating outside, but indoors was great.
"Renovated hotel with minimalist style rooms"
I stayed in the hotel for 8 nights for a conference which was held inside the hotel. I asked the hotel to arrange airport pickup which cost about US$30, but it was very efficient. The driver held a sign with my name waiting for me outside. The front desk was very nice and quick. I liked the room which has been renovated. I liked the decor, very minimalist. There are a lot of electrical outlets in the room. There is no bathtub, but a huge shower room with a big shower head. The bed is very comfortable.
The breakfast is a feast, but after staying there for so many days, things do get old. It has nothing to do with the hotel. I ordered room service once and it was good. There were buffet lunches for the conference attendees and I have to say all the lunches were excellent.
The hotel is well located with many shops and restaurants around. There is a big supermarket in a shopping center not far away. It's quite a walk to the historic part of Guadalajara though.
The wifi in the hotel is ok. I did have a problem once. I couldn't get on and the passcode didn't work. The operator immediately transferred me to tech support which fixed the problem. However, maybe there were a lot of people staying there because of the conference, the wife just didn't work very well. I had to switch back and forth between the hotel wifi network and the conference wifi network during my stay.
The gym is rather small, but adequate.
One minor complaint is the water pressure of the shower. I was on the 7th floor and the water pressure was bad. A colleague of mine who stayed on the 22nd floor told me that she had a hard time taking a shower due to the water pressure.
A wonderful hotel. Unsure of the star rating but its up there. Great service, lovely expansive rooms and a great view if you are high enough. I was on the 20th Floor.
