"A welcoming and relaxed atmosphere resort, truly outstanding service and a great ocean view!"
Just returned from our 10-day visit to Cozumel. We selected the Fiesta Americana because it is a Hilton affiliate resort and the generally highly rated Tripadvisor Reviews.
Overall, our stay at the FA Cozumel was outstanding! Travelling with another couple, we were graciously greeted by Caty at the entrance steps of the resort who immediately provided us a refreshing juice drink and then escorted our party through the efficient check-in process. Since we had arrived in the morning, our rooms were not ready. However, the always friendly staff suggested that we change into swim wear, eat lunch and begin exploring the resort. We eventually obtained adjacent rooms on the 6th floor (604 and 603) which each had living rooms with separate bedroom (King) and two full baths! While having room service dinners with our travelling companions in our room, it was really nice having the extra bath so they would not have to go through our bedroom. Both the living room and bedroom have a connected balcony with a spectacular ocean view- especially at sunset.
The main pool area was quite nice and pleasantly uncrowded. The entire week, it always easy to find numerous pool loungers- all day. The resort management must have noted earlier reviews about some crumbling masonry around the pool, because they have almost completed resurfacing the entire area. My spouse booked a 80-minute massage in the spa ($100.00) and said it was the best massage she had ever received! I classify the fitness room as "adequate" with several fitness club model treadmills, two elliptical trainers and a reclined cycle. Free weights/ strength training are limited to a barbell rack along with a Lat machine. To get the the beachfront, you actually have to cross a one-way road but traffic was always light. This resort is located on a rocky reef/coral shore line so the beach is actually a large raised seawall pavilion where they have trucked in lots of soft white sand and installed a freshwater soaking pool to cool off. There are numerous loungers, umbrellas and even suspended mesh platforms to lay out and sun bathe over the water. Several stair wells lead down through the seawall for easy access for swimming and snorkeling. (lots of fish!)
The resort offers free use of mask, fins, snorkel and flotation vest with a deposit. There is a Scuba shop (Dive House, Cozumel) on site and they offer morning and afternoon 2-tank diving charters for $87.00. Their boat picks you up at the resort pier. I dived Palancar Reef on an afternoon charter- very enjoyable dives and staff were professional. We found the resort's food service quite good for an all inclusive operation. Our party rated the Italian restaurant best (we ate there several times) , the Mexican was also very good and the Asian restaurant- no so good. The buffet line was quite varied with well prepared food offerings but I found breakfast the best. Lastly, consistent with other reviews, the Beach Grill's fish tacos are the best I have ever tasted. My traveling buddy says the same with their shrimp tacos.
Travel tip: I brought a large Artic insulated mug that the bar tenders will happily fill up with your favorite beverage. In regards to activities, we booked two Island excursions through the resort. I'll get our only bad experience over with: The 24-hour JEEP rental sorely missed the mark. The JEEP turned out to be a piece of junk with 103,000 miles, bald tires, non-functioning airbags/windshield wipers and a shredded/grinding 2nd gear which made driving in Mexican traffic a memorable and suspenseful experience! The only good thing is that the appearance and sounds of the JEEP made us feel Cozumel expats and not visiting tourists. The guy in Fiesta's excursion office said it was the rental company's fault and they did not speak English so well - so that was that. The good news is that our second excursion of driving X-Rail all terrain vehicles through miles of muddy jungle to swim in the Jade Cavern's Cenote (booked w/Wild Tours) was outstanding fun! A lifetime memory made there . Lastly, the main factor that warrants an "Excellent" rating for Fiesta American Cozumel are the resort staff who were always friendly and truly pampered us with 5-star service our the 10-day entire stay. We found ourselves exchanging farewell hugs with staff when we departed. Yara at the pool made it seem like she was our own personal server. Special mention also goes to Benjamin who checked on us several times a day, handled any issues or questions and even made special arrangements for us to watch the Seahawks game in a restaurant in nearby San Miguel. Suggestion: The resort staff works very hard at FA Cozumel, bring plenty of small bills to let them know you appreciate their efforts. We will be going back !
"Awesome snorkeling; clean rooms; very friendly staff."
This was a different type of resort trip than I am used to. Instead of a beach with a sea wall restricting the ocean levels to about 4 feet - which is difficult to swim in, this hotel had docks with ladders leading down to deep, warm, clear water - with reefs and lots of beautiful fish and other sea life. The docks contained mattresses where you could lay out and sunbathe - suspended over the ocean. That was quite unique. And, the hotel allowed you to borrow snorkel gear. I had a wonderful time.
We just returned from a week at the Cozumel FA and loved every minute of it. From the moment we arrived we were treated first class. The Check in experience was easy and without any pressure at all. We were given a beautiful 7th floor suite with 2 rooms which was gorgeous. Lots of food choices.. We did not like the Italian restaurant. I ordered a medium rare filet which came out medium well and was not bacon wrapped as advertised or very tasty. We loved the Mexican restaurant! Everything we tried was amazing. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant but not the sushi. Sushi did not look or taste very good so we did not go back. The ceviche stand and burger bar were delicious as was the buffet breakfast. We loved the over the ocean beds and snorkeling was fabulous! The workout room is pretty small so if there were more than 3 people in there it felt crowded but it was satisfactory for a vacation week. We got massages and they were nice. Only complaint is that I had terrible internet access all week. The only place I could regularly get access was near the pool/bar area. I had no access in the room and almost never across the street near the breakfast/ocean bed area. That was very disappointing and made it very difficult to communicate with my children or stay connected to anything. Overall a fabulous resort and I can't say enough about the employees. We just loved every single one of them. So polite and eager to help. Would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing week in paradise.
"Memorable Vacation !"
Everybody is super friendly and the service is exceptional. Hotel staff is amazing, I have never seen hotel employees so dedicated to the clients and always smiling and happy. The food is excellent (wow the ceviche for lunch), hotel very clean and beautiful, water the best there is for swimming and seeing colorful fish. Beach side superb for relaxing. Chairs and beds near the water available and so nice snorkeling with the fish. Thank you for a very nice vacation !
"Just returned from this resort- service is fabulous"
We just returned from a week at the Fiesta Americana in Cozumel. This property is lovely. We want to give a huge shout out to Benjamin the concierge who was at our side daily to ensure our stay was all that it could be. The food was super especially the fish tacos on the beach... WOW! Jamie the food and beverage manager does a great job with diverse cuisine..... Yana, Juan and Marco treated us life family, superior service, exceptional friendliness. They made it clear that they loved working here and it was reflected in their service toward guests. Benjamin and Ricardo greeted us with the warmest of welcomes and Ben checked in several times a day. Juan and his Long Island Teas, Margaritas were delicious and served rapidly by Yana ( she could not do enough for us) Marcos sayings such as "Happy wife, Happy Life " was entertaining. His service was terrific. We left knowing we would want to come back and felt like we left family behind in Benjamin. Russ and Pam
