"The perfect mother and teenage daughter GETAWAY!"
My Kat and I needed some one-on-one time to bond and have some fun together and Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun All Inclusive resort got us covered!
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a handful of friendly staff and guided to the VIP lounge where we went over basic rules, our $50 resort credit and finally; our VIP wristbands! Good start!
We absolutely loved our oceanfront room; located in the Sea Tower which is conveniently close to all the entertainment spots and restaurants. As for the room itself, it had a clean and modern feel to it and our spacious balcony had an enchanting view of both the ocean and the pool. Chilled champagne and fresh fruits with a letter from the general Manager Pilar Tapia left as a welcoming gift!
The food was legit! We were really surprised by the quality and the variety of the food! But hey, we were in Mehico so we were super excited to try the flavors of Mexican food like fresh-made tortillas, quesadillas and tacos! And believe me, we did just that! And a lot of it!! La Cevecheria was one of our top favorites! The shrimp tacos, ceviche, and breaded fish are without a doubt to die for! Trust me, you don't want to miss out on the Grill daily BBQ @12 PM that range from shrimp, chicken, steak, and veggies! El Mexicano and its authentic dishes for the win! Their traditional Mexican coffee with spices and orange peel made in clay pot and the Conchas were the real treat, stuff you definitely shouldn't miss!
We also visited San Telmo where we were indulged in a juicy grilled octopus, a tangy shrimp salad, and a tasty steak! The sashimi in the Sushi Bar was very good! The tender crepe stuffed with Nutella and nuts are my Kat addiction and the Jamaica gelato was mine! If my Kat had to pick a favorite out of the restaurants it would definitely be Kalmia, which was a great - big buffet with a new variety of fresh darn outstanding food every day! She also was a frequent room service caller and highly recommends their chicken strips! She really can tell the difference between microwaved chicken strips and freshly cooked ones and she thinks these were definitely fresh!
When it is time for a dip, the resort has an amazing sandy beach and breath-taking pools! We were there for the Atlantic Ocean so we didn't bother with the pool area. I would really highlight the towel service, the lifeguards and the crew members at the beach who offer you drinks and bring them straight to you!
This resort also offers a handy activity sheet with details on things to do each day! Our favorite was the lesson that teaches you how to make a cup and a cocktail out of an entire fresh pineapple! Over our stay, we also visited the magic show. Unfortunately, the theatre reeked of a moldy/wet smell so we did NOT hang around until the end of the show.
One of my daughters' favorite spots was the spa! She got a moisturizing facial treatment that she described as the most relaxing experience ever! She also got a manicure and a pedicure; talk about pampering!
The only ugly experience was an issue regarding our $50 resort credit with Berenice at the VIP lounge who was very unprofessional and rude so asked her for Pilar but we accepted her supervisor Edgar apology and he sure made it right! I would say be prepared, the resort will give you hard time using your $50 credit.
Our room was cleaned spotless twice every single day and a new batch of toiletries and fresh towels were given to us. Almost every night, a crew member came to our door with tasty delights as "courtesy", her favorite was the plate of chocolate with a raspberry on top and coconut shavings on the bottom!
Overall, the staff worked very hard to give us the most memorable stay and their goal was accomplished.
"Not an "all inclusive" resort!"
- beach: cancun beaches are nice and beautiful with turquoise water. But when the temperatures are around 70s, they are unswimmable.
- hotel: uses most spaces for room, very minimal landscapes, look like someone else' back yard.
- room: we were there for 8th year anniversary and birthday, so we think we've got upgraded to a partial ocean view room with decorative rice on our bed, thank you for that. The room is old but has contemporary decoration, and acceptable cleaniness. Bed sheets are not 100% cotton so it's not comfortable to sleep on. Requested fresh blankets and the got 3 delivered. The cleaning staffs are hard working and very nice, actually they are the only crew that we can feel the sincerity in their service!
- pool: the section of the pool that closed to asian restaurant, at night we saw oil puddles floating on top of the water, so we decided to skip the pool activities.
- entertainment: fire show was the most professional, others are local talents.
- drinks: not closed to the tastes of the name of the drinks they are supposed to be named... and we just ordered the regulars like pina colada, margarita.... wife eneded up drink champagne most of the time because they are poured out from the bottle. No drink menus!
Buffet: we ended up using this one everyday. They have the most variety and decent food. Looking for tropical fruits but the nicest options they have are watermelon and guava. Desserts are very nice looking, but most of them tasted not like desserts. Waiters: they will take your half-full plates when you are not at your table, it was not only happened to us.
Sushi stand ( it is not a restaurant): the chefs work very hard, but they are not quality sushis. Whaterver they described in the menu, will be substituted without noticed. For ex, the roll described conch, but you will get octopus. They are all seafood right? Haha
Little restaurant by the beach: served very good shrimps and fish tacos, and they are fast.
Asian restaurant: ok food , desserts are not good.
El Mexicano: waiters will serve you based on tips. If you didn't order their "special menu", they gave you an attitude! Worst service here!
Italian restaurant: the "best" restaurant in here about service and food. Let's talk about the "special menu". So each restaurant here they do have some dishes on the menu that you have to pay for, not include in your all-inclusive package. We already paid a lot for this package so it doesn't make sense. But on the last night at the resort, husband decided to go for grilled lobster, which on their special menu, and the price said 900 peso (about $50usd). We asked how big the lobster is? The waiter brought out a huge 5 lb lobster, so we said we will go for it. Then a few minutes later, waiter said the price on the menu was not correct, it should be 1200. Considering a huge lobster, we said it's fine. A few minutes later, the waiter brought out a small 2lb lobster said this one costed 1300! Based on the nice advertisement and the sincerity of the waiter, we said ok, just 100 more. Then he came out again, said it should be 1400! At this point, we were pissed, the principle is not there, we said forget about it, and the waiter said he " completely understand ". Then about 10 minutes later, they brought out a Cooked lobster laid on our table! We looked at the lobster and wanted to throw up! Waiter begged us to eat it, he said it was just 100 peso more. Husband complained to the hostess ( seemed like she was the one speaks the most English ), and the lobster was put back to the kitchen! It was the most Disturbing experience we ever had anywhere we traveled.... and we traveled most Caribbean islands!
Steak house: people gets in line from 2-4pm to make reservations for the dinner next day.... we didn't want to spend our vacation getting in line for that, and nice dishes are mostly on the "special menu"!
- time-share: it is Everywhere in Cancun, from your hotel lobby to the street. If you want to spend half of the day with them, eventhough they said it just took about an hour, so go for it. Their tricks are, they will try to help you for advices and direction in order to talk to you first, then they will push you to listen to them. Where are the sincerity and hospitality of Cancun fifteen years ago... they lost it now with all the fake helps!
Excursions. We did i own excursion going to Isla Murjeres.... been there done that so no need to get fancy. Hop on the bus for less than a dollar, then get to Playa Tortugas and paid eighteen dollars for round trip ferry. The island is super small so no need golf cart renting.
Currency exchange. Prices are different everywhere you go. Ci Banco required your passport eventho you just want to change one hundred dollars.
To be fair, there is the one thing I love about this resort, they hosted a Sunday Catholic mass in the ball room. And the only thing we love about Cancun is, the Beach!
"Wonderful family resort"
Amazing staff, great food and amenities. Kid friendly resort with lots of activities for kids. Highly recommend.
Room tip: 752 at the main building has amazing view of the pool and beach. Any room on the higher floors of the main building will have the full view of the beach.
Probably wouldn’t stay here again. Great for families but not for young couples. Nothing to do at this end of the beach, all the nightlife and shopping is further up. Lovely food and many variety of restaurants. Just lacking entertainment for younger people. Staff are only nice so they can get a tip and when you don’t tip them they are no longer so accommodating.
"Beautiful resort, phenomenal staff"
My boyfriend and I stayed at FACC from 12/31/17 - 1/4/18. We had the most amazing time, due to the location, the beach, the food, and - most importantly - the phenomenal staff. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a beautiful partial ocean view room that overlooked palm trees and a glimpse of the ocean. Our first night was New Year's Eve, and the resort's party was fun - live music by the pool, champagne, horns, food, and dancing. The staff did a wonderful job of creating a lively ambience to ring in 2018. It truly was the perfect NYE.
Room: The room was beautiful and updated. The bed was comfortable and included six pillows.
Service: Top-notch. Francisco at Kambu made dinner on our last night very special. He brought us cold towels from the spa. We ordered a bottle of prosecco, and he went all the way to the lobby to retrieve it. He made great conversation with us. Thank you, Francisco! At the pool/beach, our favorite server, Eligio, made sure we never had to get up to get a new beer and was friendly and quick. The front desk was helpful in giving us directions when we ventured off the resort. At the lobby bar, Ivanova brought us many drinks and was so pleasant to speak with. Room service is prompt.
Food: We loved all the food. Our favorite was Kambu (Asian). Buffet for breakfast was fresh. We also liked the Mexican restaurant. Fish tacos and the healthy food station were great for lunch.
Amenities: Loved the crepe and ice cream station. The spa was relaxing. The pool and beach areas are very nice.
