this is an all inclusive resort. the buffets and bars are well stocked. The beach and pool restaurants offer many options with excellent Mexican and local flavour foods. The big issue with this facility is the rooms. Rooms are reasonable in size but outdated. The AC units are old and have issues with the high humidity in the summer/fall period. Our bathing suits stayed wet 4 days straight. Even my regular clothes felt damp. The service and personnel were attentive but were unable to fix many issues. The hotel is currently under construction and the noise level at the pool is annoying. Let's not talk about the dust.
"Great place to stay"
I took my family here for a week and we were very satisfied. The food was good and the service was excellent. Nice pool and great beach. Lots of activities going on at the pool everyday. Swim up bar is great! There currently is construction going on but the resort is fully open and it was no impact on our stay.
We had a wonderful time. We were there for nine days and never ran out of fun things to do. When we arrived there was a big picture on the dresser made out of rice. Another time there was a swan made out of towels. The staff was very attentive. We especially liked Juan Jose Hernandez Palomec (JJ). He did magic tricks for us at breakfast every morning. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.
Was a great resort, worth every penny. Loved the beach, close to all amenities downtown for a short ride. Senior Frogs, Russ Kris Steakhouse, fantastic food! Did a little site seeing, beach was great. Service second to none. Check in smooth, great service.
"Definitely went down hill lately"
This has long been our favorite spot in Cancun. I even proposed to my fiance here last year, however when staying there this year we were very disappointed. Currently the resort is going through a remodel. (A much needed one) Our entire trip was full on hammering, chiseling, and loud construction. Definitely didn't make it very relaxing. Whenever passing the construction area you were greeted with generator exhaust and other unpleasantness that wasn't very good for relaxing. The hotel never once reached out before our reservation to say they were under construction. At least a warning would have been nice. Next complaint: Usually the service is amazing. This time I could tell they had done major labor cuts (possibly because of the construction) It was difficult to find a server in the upper pool and sometimes in the lower pool. Next complaint: The room smelled like mold. Hadn't had this issue before, however this room didn't smell well. Next complaint: We were very excited to check out the new "Cantina" after seeing the construction last year and all the photos of the amazing food options. We went down to it and it was completely empty. No music. Only 1 employee on duty. No menus. Later found out they don't even have a kitchen there and that the one employee had to leave for 25 minutes to pick up the food. They do have a few other beer options there, but there's an upcharge for those and the one employee didn't have a key that cooler. Next complaint: Many of the restaurants were closed, once again possibly because of the construction and reduced guest count. Next complaint: No servers on the beach this year. Usually they come out and take drink orders. This year we had to walk up to the beach bar to get them. Next Complaint: They installed new heads on the sinks to I guess save water? Gives you really bad water pressure for washing your hands. Next complaint: Our friends room had the A/C unit leaking through the ceiling into the bathroom light. However they did fix this quickly once informed. Next complaint: We've always loved the food here, but this time 3 out of the 4 of us got pretty bad stomach issues from it. Not sure if it was one bad meal or multiple.
Positives: They helped me with a difficult reservation issue that had occured. The baby turtle release was great as always. The Casino night was fun. The shrimp tacos are still amazing. The employees there are all really great people and put out effort. Price is still reasonable for all inclusive.
The only reason I'm still giving them a 3 star review is because of the past years experiences that I hope return. We're seriously going to have to figure out if we want to return here after this past experience. This resort is very sentimental to us and has been our annual spot for several years now, but I'm not sure if it's worth returning anymore. =/
